Welcome to our Adventure

We have been planning this adventure since February 2019. Our wonderful Dad and Mum had always wanted to visit the Ord river in far north WA. Dad had a fascination with dams and dam building, he filmed the whole build of Blowering dam from start until the dam was filled.

Now lets introduce ourselves

Hi I am Joanne and along with my husband Colin, my brother Allan, sister Eileen Allan’s wife Carol & Eileen’s husband Terry. We are all going to travel together and make Dads & Mums dream a reality. The saddest part of this trip is that our younger brother Peter & his wife Kathleen are unable to travel with us. As a family we all get on well. We all have our quirky personalities. It should be a cracker of a trip, and some of the content should make great viewing.

Colin & I needed to update our travel wagon, as you can see. Although our old wagon does have two spare wheels and plenty of air conditioning, it’s springs leave a lot to be desired and will make for a very rough ride. The new van is a Malibu Curl 18’ 6”, which we purchased from Wagga RV Centre in Cheshire St Wagga. Jordan & Chris were so helpful, and we are extremely happy with our new baby. This van has loads of inclusions that were extras in other vans that we looked at. It has everything including a Washing machine, toilet, bathroom, even a kitchen sink. Shit its just like being at home. I guess this includes cleaning it. I hope the outlook from the window is better than at home.

A Very Short synopsis of our travel plans.

We have decided that we will all meet in Renmark SA for the first couple of nights. That way we can all start of together.

From Renmark we plan to travel to Port Augusta and then up the centre to Alice Springs, Darwin across to the ORD River, then we will make our way all down the west coast and around the bottom of WA and across the Nullarbor and then through to Adelaide.

All these plans depend on the Borders opening. We will be uploading Video’s to our You Tube Channel (Oz My Way). We are hoping that we will get some content up each week. Might be a bit simple to start with but hopefully I will get better as we go along.

We will also post photos & content to our website, so our family and friends can see where we are and what we are up to (ozmyway.com.au). Thanks to Daniel for setting up all the technical stuff and designing the Oz My Way Logo.

I did not realise how much stuff we need to buy to live away from home. So, we live by the list.

There is a lot we still need to purchase.

Of all the things we need to get, I think to most important is a CO2 monitor; I will also be making sure Eileen also has one. I believe there is one in Allan’s motorhome.

My research has helped me find a list of all dump points in Australia. Not a pleasant job, but a necessary one.

The one thing I did do was to photocopy all the Instruction Manuals a copy of the Van Rego, Insurance and the Invoice and put them in a folder with tabs & labels. This way everything to do with the van is in one place and it will make it easier to find.
